Irish airliner Aer Lingus considering IAG’s 1.3-billion euro takeover offer

The takeover of British Airways owner IAG’s of Aer Lingus is gaining ground, post US regulator’s approval and the backing of the Irish carrier’s shareholders special resolutions linked to the deal. Aer Lingus investors now have time till almost the end of this month to accept IAG’s 1.3-billion-euro ($1.4 billion) offer, after IAG pushed the deadline. Two of the biggest Aer Lingus shareholders, the Irish government and Ryanair are already backing the IAG.
